If you know anything about yoga you should know about Lululemon pants. Created by a yoga practitioner that saw all his fellow class men and women dressed in clothes that just were not proper for the endurance yoga puts you through. Lululemon pants were thus born becoming now a trademark name. It didn’t hurt that the guy had a background in the apparel either.
History
Lululemon was formed in Vancouver Canada in 1998 by Chip Wilson. A 20 year veteran in the snow, surf, and skate business Chip then took a yoga class and was enthralled. By getting the same euphoric feel that snowboarding, surfing, and skateboarding brings he discovered why yoga was such an “it” thing. There was a problem though, he realized the cotton clothing worn for the power yoga everyone was doing did not do this exercise justice. Chip who has a talent in technical athletic fabric and design decided to change that.
Buying a design studio, then making it a yoga studio at night to help pay the bills and rent he used the yoga students and yoga instructors to try the new clothing apparel he had been tinkering on, along with their provided feedback of course.
As you know they were a hit and in November of the year 2000, the design studio became a full-fledged store with the name Lululemon being chosen from a survey that was given to 100 people.
Still, the concept for the store was to have only one store. It was also meant to be more a community nook where people could gather, explore and learn the philosophy of yoga, healthy living, and how to live a life empowered. Oh and tossed in with selling some merchandise, which at the time was targeted to only yoga clothing for women only (this has changed of course.). The business took off so well this concept never got to fruition. Now Lululemon is worldwide.
What Makes Lululemon So Sought After?
